Vantage Health Plan Licenses TriZetto’s QNXT System to Drive Further Efficiency and Support Move Into Medicaid

New System Will Free Staff to Support Important Provider and Member Projects That Offer Competitive Differentiation

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - May 19, 2010 - The TriZetto Group, Inc. today announced that Vantage Health Plan, Inc. of Monroe, La., has contracted for TriZetto’s QNXT(TM) 4.7 enterprise administration system and renewed its license for the firm’s PDM suite of products for Medicare Advantage plans. The core platform change from another vendor will help increase the community health plan’s automation of administrative processes, support its move into Medicaid in Louisiana and enable it to redeploy IT staff to provider and member programs that drive a competitive advantage.

Vantage plans to go live on the QNXT system in late summer 2010. The community health maintenance organization provides coverage to 25,000 members across more than 50 parishes in Louisiana.

“We considered a number of other vendors and asked a lot of questions that are important to a community health plan like ours,” recalled Rhonda Haygood, chief financial officer of Vantage. “Frankly, we got tired of hearing, ‘Oh, that’ll be in the next release.’ TriZetto’s QNXT system is the one platform that has the functionality now to help eliminate most of the workarounds in claims that require manual touches, and it has the strong track record in Medicaid to support our move into that market in months to come.”

Support and maintenance costs were additional considerations in choosing TriZetto. “We know the QNXT platform will be well-supported because of the product’s significant commercial, Medicare and Medicaid footprint and strong user group,” Haygood said. “And the TriZetto name is behind the product, which instills confidence.”

Freed from focusing on system upkeep and workarounds, Vantage’s IT staff will be redeployed to support strategic initiatives that include the development of a clinic, a pharmacy and expanded capacity for the hospital in which the health plan has an interest. Vantage’s staff will provide technology support for physician groups to add nutritionists, conduct home visits and implement an electronic health record (EHR) that meets the federal government’s meaningful-use criteria. IT staff will facilitate the EHR adoption, pre-loading patient charts and providing onsite support during the first weeks of use. Redeployed IT staff also will complete the development and launch of a member portal that enables patients to check benefits and eligibility, prepare for office visits and manage their health more effectively.

“‘Making healthcare work’ is the motto of Vantage Health Plan,” said Haygood, “and TriZetto’s QNXT administration system will free our employees to do just that.”

In addition, TriZetto’s PDM suite of products will continue to help Vantage ensure compliance with CMS regulations, proper reconciliation of data and correct reimbursement for Vantage’s Medicare Advantage program. The licensed modules include:

  • Financial Reconciliation Manager
  • Risk Score Manager
  • Enrollment Administration Manager
  • Claims Data Manager
  • HCC Risk Adjustment Manager

“Vantage’s decision further attests to the continuing success of the QNXT platform with community health plans,” said Rob Scavo, president of emerging market at TriZetto. “These plans need the same capabilities as the larger national plans to compete, and the QNXT platform enables those capabilities at a very attractive TCO. The QNXT system’s unmatched following among community health plans -- backed by TriZetto’s strong commitment to provide tailored solutions that help navigate reform, address industry change and leverage the strength of local presence -- has spurred tremendous growth.”
